Antonio Scarano received his degree in dentistry from “G. D’Annunzio” University in Chieti with honors in 1991, his degree in medicine from “LA Sapienza” University in Rome in 2004, and his specialization in oral surgery from “La Sapienza” University in Rome with honors. Currently, he is a full professor at the University of Chieti-Pescara. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO). He is a member of the Board of the Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine (1993–1999) and of Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research (2002–present). He is a reviewer of the following journals: Clin Oral Impl Res, J Clin Periodontol, Clinl Impl Dent Relat Res, J Biomed Mater Res – Applied Biomaterials, etc. He has co-authored more than 500 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Most of these papers have dealt with implant dentistry and biomaterials. His main research interests have been immediate loading and bone response to different biomaterials.
