Funding Acknowledgements
Lab Publishers requires that all authors provide a clear and accurate statement of funding sources for their research. This transparency helps readers understand the financial support behind the research and ensures that any potential biases arising from financial sponsorship are disclosed.
1. Funding Sources Disclosure
Authors must include a dedicated section in their manuscript titled “Funding” or “Acknowledgements” where they specify all financial support received for the research and/or the preparation of the manuscript. This includes but is not limited to:
- Grants or contracts from government agencies, private institutions, or non-profit organizations.
- Financial support from commercial entities such as corporations, foundations, or industry sponsors.
- Any form of direct or indirect financial assistance, including salaries, equipment, or other material resources provided for the research.
The full name of the funding agency and the grant number(s) should be included to ensure proper attribution of support.
2. Role of Funders
Authors must also specify the role, if any, that the funding body played in the following aspects of the research:
- Study design.
- Data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Writing or preparing the manuscript.
- Decision to submit the manuscript for publication.
If the funding organization had no involvement in these stages, a clear statement to that effect should be made, such as:
“The funding body had no role in the design of the study, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.”
3. Absence of Funding
In cases where the research received no specific funding, a statement to this effect should be included. For example:
“This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”
4. Conflicts of Interest Related to Funding
Any potential conflicts of interest arising from financial support must be disclosed in accordance with the journal’s Conflicts of Interest Policy. For example, authors should declare if they have any financial relationships with entities that could be perceived as influencing the research.
5. Public Disclosure
By acknowledging funding sources, authors contribute to the transparency of research and help maintain the credibility of published works. Funders play an important role in advancing scientific discovery, and proper recognition of their contributions is essential to ensuring the integrity of academic research.
